Christmas 08/New Year 09

A belated Christmas to everybody! This being my first Christmas in my apartment..the theme is a "deconstructed Christmas" and I'm quite proud of my "almost a wreath" wreath on my front door, and my table arrangement with real pine needles

and since I had all this apt space, I also decided to make use of it to make advent wreaths to fundraise for my Habitat build this year! My friends helped out for one of the nights, but in reality, for 3 wks, my place was a wreath-making workshop as I and Jackie (Ah Leng's friend) made about 50 wreaths over 3 wks!

more to come..

Europe Bonanza

This trip to Europe was one to rave about with our string of good food, historic sights and good company. Ian graduated in November which was a much anticipated event and a great relief to Dad and Mum's mind and bank.
We continued this celebration through the whole 3 weeks of the trip. We went up to Poynton to visit the Churchman and enjoyed a home cooked roast and yummy pavlova. Look at those fresh rasberries and cream on that pavlova. It's Aunty Jean's killer dessert. The eating continues around London with an entourage. This is at Gordon Ramsay's pub in Limestreet with good wholesome pub food such as fish and chips, mash and peas.

With all that eating, we had to do some walking through London to prepare us for the next meal.
At Canary wharf checking the stock prices during the credit crunch close to Yushan's workplace

Finally its dinner time.

We could not leave London without meeting the infamous twins, Izzy & Libby. And of course Chris and Karen.

France here we come.....

November1

Hi Everyone - sorry for the long silence..

Dad (Uncle Frankie) as you all know had a stroke in July. He's now somewhat stabilised and at least at home comfortably rather than being at a nursing home.

Praise God for giving us a good maid to help mom out. Otherwise it wasn't possible to have dad at home.

He still has difficulty walking but by God's healing power, prayers and anointing oil, we believe he'll soon be able to walk.

Meanwhile, if anyone is planning to visit Penang, please do so from Nov 1-10, when Christopher and Karen will be out from London with the twins!

Come and play with them! They're adorable!

Izzy and Libby Cheah turn one!

Hi Lynn.. Good to read your blog!! I was busy in London at that time.. attending the twins' birthday party! Which was well-represented by cousins like Ian, and my cousin Michael as well.. very nice. Hey Ian, it was a revelation that you enjoy playing with kids, good for you!

Isabelle and Olivia are super duper cute, with tubby tummies and the cutest smiles! They're just learning their first words. They're much quicker when it comes to actions though.. and their mommy karen is very good at teaching them what actions and sounds to make!

but looking after them double a full-time job - their routine goes something like this;
730am wake up, hv milk, breakfast, change nappy, play in front of TV until 10am; nap time. wake up and hv lunch around 1230pm, after which there's usually another nappy change during which they squirm like little worms and fuss.
then it's nap time at 2, 230pm, wake up at 3.30pm - and that's when they hv to be entertained until dinner time at 530pm-6pm.

Happily, they've been going to bed by 8pm. and sleeping all the way through.

Thought I'd post some pictures of their birthday party held at the church hall..

Izzy's in PINK and Libby's in BLUE

The twins had such fun at the party they were still dreaming of it, I'm sure.
Here's the morning after the party! Libby and Chris

Keep it alive

Dearest all,
Thanks to Sharon for keeping this blog alive. I currently do not have photos or any exciting news for anyone but I thought I would just write to keep everyone updated of my existence. Actually Sue and Matt's wedding was pretty fantastic. Sue looked beautiful as anyone would guess. The day was flawless and the venue was just perfect. The supporters from the Tan family were few but priceless. Cheh Ee and Mei's family from Sydney made it all the way to Melbourne. Ian came jetlagged all the way from London to fulfill his groomsmen duties.

The photos from the wedding should be on its way.

Sharon, your place sounds like a rainbow colored house. But very exciting to have a new home. Whats the theme?

I-Lynn

renovations

Hallo everybody!

first off, Congrats to Sue and Matthew on their wedding!! We're still waiting for pictures!

And then, the reason why you haven't heard from the Cheah family is because Mrs Cheah in Pg and Ms Cheah in Sp has been busy renovating their respective apartments. For a while, SMS-es were flying furiously across borders and over water about kitchen layouts, cabinet designs, what material to use for kitchen counter tops, plus the usual "Don't spend so much money" (from Mrs Cheah to Ms Cheah, of course).

Ms Cheah's reno started March 15.. and she's moving in THIS Saturday! This wk was crunch time - mon, painting; wed, more electrical installations; thurs, kitchen cabinets fixed up; Friday, cleaning and polishing floors; and Sat - move. That's the plan so far. Hope the mover hasn't overlooked the moving date.

But meanwhile, I'm posting 2 pictures of my very very blue wall and very very red wall! Although the guestroom is the one with the blue wall, family members get the special privilege of staying in red-wall room too! and then there's always the "white" room - the living room! Heh.

Come visit soon!

It's been a while!

... since the last posting.
I, like Karen Cheah (London) and Lee I Lynn, have been distracted by Facebook... so this blog has been neglected for a while!

So here's the October entry..

Josiah Lim rejoices that he's finished his (very important) PSLE or Primary Six examination. And he's celebrating by playing xbox with a friend at home, after his last Science paper.

Baja Cruise

Have not posted for quite a while. Here are some pictures taken during our recent 5-day cruise....the highlight was we ate and ate and ate. Our appetide seems to correlate well with the ocean. Sarah had a great time on the ship and the first thing she did in the morning when she woke up was to look out the small window we have in our room to see where we were. We probably need to stay away from cruise for a while until our clothes fit better.

The Cupcake Contingent

There's a lot that goes on behind the scenes of a wedding, and for Kee Meng and Shirleen's July 8 wedding dinner celebration, it was the cupcakes for the guests to be made just days before the dinner. Here are shots of the cupcake contingent at work, headed ably by Ling!

And then cupcake contingent B sneakily tucking into a few cupcakes after laying out the cupcakes on the tables, before dinner!

Anyone else who wants to order handmade cupcakes, you know who to ask lah!
